Amarillo - Panhandle Bobs

Can anyone make a trip with me to Amarillo tomorrow? Panhandle Bob is in dire need of cash and has asked me to come out and see what I would be willing to take off his hands.

Last minute kind of thing, and probably none of you can make it, but thought I'd try just in case. I just got the email from him about 30mins ago. Gotta call him and work out the details before making any hard plans though.

Just spoke with Panhandle. He is ok with other peeps coming. Now's your chance to see (and buy from) the panhandle glory hole.

I wish I had the time today! Too last minute unfortunately. Hopefully he allows us to go later!

But, if you are going, let me know if he has any font balls for the Selectric. I'm looking for Old English. Needs to be the 88 character ball.

Sorry I couldn't make it. If there's a complete Apple llc, I could offer $150. That's about the only thing I can think of.

He has an Apple iic with accessories including monitor and printer. I think he might go $150 for just the iic. He said he'd think about it.

Had another great visit with Panhandle Bob. He doesn't have as large an inventory as Edgars, but he has more unusual things. He was open to me taking pictures this time and is now open to a group visit. Warning, try to keep him from trying to show you EVERYTHING unless you plan on spending the night! I left ABQ at around 0800 yesterday and got back at 1030 this morning. Oof. We were still digging through the glory hole at 0400. He doesn't keep bankers hours.

He has a stash of font balls, but we just couldn't find it in the time we had. And all of his Selectrics look brand new from what I can see in the dim light of the bunker.

I took a few random pictures in the bunker. Light is poor, space is cramped, and time was short.

And the last few randoms. Sorry for the poor and random pictures, but by the time I started taking any I was running on fumes and in a rush to leave.

I wish I had the time today! Too last minute unfortunately. Hopefully he allows us to go later!

But, if you are going, let me know if he has any font balls for the Selectric. I'm looking for Old English. Needs to be the 88 character ball.

If you didn't know, Selectric I and II balls have white lettering and Selectric III balls have yellow, so that's a quick way to identify which you're looking at. They may not always say 88 or 96 characters, but white are 88 and yellow are 96. There is currently a lot of 3 balls on eBay that include an Olde English and they are listed as for a Selectric II, But the OE ball has yellow lettering, so it's really a Selectric III.

Dang, that looks like an excellent place to go through! If he's more open to visitors going out there, we can plan a trip!

The yellow vs white is good to know! I've been counting the rows or looking at the mounting at the bottom. I do have an old english font but that was before I knew there were 88 vs 96 char balls and it's the latter.

I wonder how he ended up with a bunch of N4 network seismic VIE boxes. The infrasound/barometric sensor is the one you got a pic of up close. First pic has a bunch of the white boxes with clear covers it all goes into.
