Ankle boots needed for riding trikes?

Some individuals wear running shoes.
I always wore combat boots and one reason for it is my right ankle is a bit weak.

I no longer have my Goldwing trike sold it years ago and I do miss it. Now I own an adult pedal tricycle (Commercial grade) and I have a lot of work to do on it. Darn thing has twitchy steering and is hard to pedal, I need to tighten the steering and upgrade the main chainring. Its not one of those cheepies from Walmart, its a $1300.00 industrial ones that are normally used in a factory.
I live in a senior housing unit in Lovington New Mexico and it gets way too hot to go outside, everyone hides inside until it cools off or they go shopping early. We'll get out triple digit heat and 90s eventually.

Oh yeah. It gets so hot down your way. Wow. Love the desert and the scenery down there. I'm in Ohio but we've traveled across country twice now in an SUV. Not sure I could handle it on a trike for that kind of distance. Tween old creaky joints, artheritis and spinal stenosis I don't think I would hold up. Wish I could though. Going to try a trip to NC to tail of the dragon and Blueridge parkway in a month or so. That will be a test to see how my wife and I can handle long rides.
Your trike sounds neat. I bet it's fun and good exercise when you have it going. Does it have gears like a ten speed bike?

The trike I have has an internal 3 speed hub, the consumer version has a 7 speed cluster. With the horrible roads in Lovington that is why I selected an industrial model (more durable). Once I swap out the chainring and tighten the steering it should be road worthy.
When I had my trike it was my only transportation when I lived in Florida. There's a difference in Florida and New Mexico weather, Florida is hot and humid (pot of boiling water) and New Mexico is just hot (fire). Its like jumping out of the boiling water into the fire.
Enjoy your vacation take your time and see the sights. Stop at the museum in Maggie Valley: Wheels Through Time and see the vintage motorcycles.

LOL Yeah, I've experienced the HOT with and without the humidity. We have the humidity in Ohio also. The dry heat out west seems more bearable to me but I've never lived in it for any period of time. 90 with humidity sucks. 90 dry heat seems bearable. Once you get over 100 like you guys do I guess it would be more like fire heat. No fun at all. You'd sweat just walking to your car.
No vacation. I quit work, aka retired a few years ago. Still seem busy somehow. But should be able to free up some time for a trip to scenic NC areas. I was in Maggie Valley last February. We went with kids and grandkids to Gatlinburg and wife and I took a day to drive over to Cherokee and then on to Maggie Valley. Had lunch in the yellow diner over there. Did not see or know about the Maggie Valley Wheels place. Will have to check it out. Sounds interesting. Thanks.
